Frequently asked questions

You might be searching for an 'artificial leg,' 'fake leg,' or 'new leg.' In the medical field, we call these prosthetics or prosthetic devices. Looking for an 'ankle brace' or 'knee support'? Those are orthotics. Don't worry about using the exact right terms! We understand what you need, and we're here to help you figure it all out.

Amputation is a life changing event. At Miller Prosthetics we find it imperative to provide our patients and amputees in our community with resources that can help to ease the transition into navigating life as an amputee or prosthetic user. We partner with the Amputee Coalition and founded the Amputee Center to provide a space for Amputees to gather and conduct peer support groups along with weekly activities. Check out our patient resources here!

We suggest connecting with a peer visitor, certified through the Amputee Coalition.
The Amputee Center is a great resource for peer support. If you are comfortable in a group setting, we have open hours every Thursday from 1pm-4pm. If you would like individual support, you can call the Amputee Center and they will get you connected with a personal peer visitor.

Every insurance and plan is different, and we accept most major insurances. All consultations are free, as we are only able to bill for delivering a device. Before a device is delivered, we thoroughly check with your insurance to ensure we have an accurate estimate on patient financials and total coverage.
-
When you are prescribed a device by your doctor, they will often give you options for providers. We believe it is important to be comfortable with your provider and confident in their skills to help you achieve your goals, especially when considering a device that will require a lifetime of use, such as a prosthetic arm or leg.
Our practitioners pride themselves on patient care beyond the delivery of a device, and understand that the service we are providing is extremely important to our patient’s daily life and getting back to doing what they love. It is important to know that the patient ALWAYS has the choice to choose the provider or clinic they prefer.
-
The best way to schedule an appointment is to call our office and speak with our administrators. This way, they can answer any questions you may have about coverage or anything that is necessary at the initial appointment.
You may also be able to speak to one of our practitioners if you have any clinical questions before scheduling your appointment.
