Amputee Coalition National Conference Las Vegas

The Amputee Center just returned from the National Amputee Coalition Conference in Las Vegas—and we are still buzzing with excitement!

We attended to support amputees in traveling and accessing education, to showcase The Amputee Center, and to intentionally build capacity for our board members and amputee members so we can bring meaningful knowledge and resources back home. From accessible travel and adaptive sports to innovative prosthetic technology and resources for individuals with upper-limb loss (including hands-free solutions), the learning was incredible.

On this trip, Miller P&O sent two employees, Alex and Nancy, to help our amputees with their travels. The two amputee members travelling with us had little to no experience flying with limb loss. We learned to great new tricks at the airport on adaptive travel and what the airlines typically do to assist anyone who needs extra help. The biggest tip we learned, ASK for help when you need it and do not feel ashamed. There are employees ready to assist you with your bags, provide a wheelchair, and push you right to your seat! Most importantly, it is a huge energy saver, so by the time we got to Vegas, we were all ready to hit the Conference full steam!

We made powerful new connections, strengthened national partnerships, and opened the door to bringing new speakers, innovators, and experiences into our programs—especially Amputee Fun Fest. Most importantly, we’re coming back inspired, informed, and ready to turn what we learned into action for our community.

Stay tuned—this trip was just the beginning. 💙♿✈️🐾

Getting all of our bags loaded up into the uber,

It also helps to bring a pack mule with you!
